Volunteers scale Snowdon at Night – £2000 raised.
On Saturday 24th April an intrepid group of volunteers scaled the heights of Mount Snowdon to raise money for Ravenscourt Trust, the Addictions Treatment Centre in Bognor Regis. Not such a big deal you may think, but they did it at night-time in what turned into atrocious weather conditions.
They raised a fantastic £2000 which is funding some much needed refurbishments at the nationally respected centre. Jon Harman, Director at Ravenscourt, commented, ‘What these guys achieved was fantastic, they decided themselves to take on this challenge, they went through awful conditions to achieve it and we are really proud of them.’
Some of the daring 13 hikers were ex-clients of Ravenscourt, who completed their treatment at Ravenscourt, moved onto housing in the area and are now working and contributing to society in the local area. ‘This is exactly what we are in business for,’ said Harman, ‘taking people out of the deadly spiral of addiction, giving them self belief and encouraging them into work and independence. This fundraising is especially timely as 2010 marks our Anniversary of 20 years of Ravenscourt being established in Bognor Regis.
